One One Hundreth of a Second
That was the margin of victory that Michael Phelps won by to secure his 7th of 8 Gold Medals in Beijing. If you were fortunate to see this event on TV you witnessed the true essence of the meaning of the word Determination.
Not to take anything away from the other fellow who won the Silver medal but it was clear that Michael Phelps was determined to win no matter who he was competing against.
We are not in competition against any particular opponent but if we use that same determination that Michael Phelps displayed in the Olympics we will win a prize equally as great as his Gold Medal.
We must first realize all the hard work and sacrifice that had he committed to reach the point that he would not be denied.
We can do that. We can work just as hard. Will it be easy? Of course not. Do you think it was easy for Michael Phelps?
Nothing of great value ever comes easy.
Besides, what's our alternative? Give up? Don't try?
We may not be competing for an Olympic Gold Medal but our goal, whatever that may be for you whether it is walking around the block, going back to work or just being an example to others, it is at least as important.
Commit right now that you will do whatever it takes to accomplish your goal. No one but you can give or take that determination away.
