I carved the Thanksgiving turkey

I carved the turkey yesterday. Big deal you say? For me it was, last year I couldn't even sharpen the knife. So yeah, it was a big deal for me.

Two years ago I was fortunate to be home for Thanksgiving as my stroke was on October the 20th. Actually I was lucky to be alive

so to be able to hold the knife sharpener in my left hand and sharpen the knife with my good right hand was truly a joy for me.

You might hear different stories about limits that the experts say to expect with your rehab but I am a living example that you can

continue to improve  regardless of the amount of time after a stroke and I am committed to do just that.

What's the secret? Hard work, determination, strong faith, belief in God and in myself and a never quit attitude.

In a previous blog article I wrote about Neuroplascity  which is the brains ability to rewire itself. During my workouts, exercises and

just during my daily routines, I  focus on Neuroplascity itself, literally visualizing helping the process take place.

The way that I picture the process is like if you were to have a new or transplanted plant growing in a glass vase or container you could

see the tiny little white fibers of baby roots being formed and spreading out.

I am not sure if that is the proper scientific explanation but it makes sense to me, plus it helps me to visualize myself getting stronger

and more flexible.

Their also is a great book on my website at StrokesSuck.com written by Dr. Bob Guns called Rewire your Brain, Rewire your Life

which explains in great detail about the subject and many other tips and strategies that I have found very helpful time and again.

I strongly recommend that you pick up a copy. Believe that you can do it and then make it happen.

Never give up never quit.
