Doing things in Awakened Consciousness
I just finished reading A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. His books must be read slowly. At least I need to read his books slowly in order
for his message to sink in. I found myself at times reading one page and then going into thought for ten minutes, reflecting on the
meaning of his words. Sometimes I would drift off to sleep in a short nap.
I was definitely affected by his words as some of my most recent blogs indicate. This will probably be the second last about his book.
At the end of A New Earth, he writes about the three modalities of awakened doing. Basically he is writing about aligning the things
that we do with the creative powers of the universe. The following are the three ways with a brief explanation of each.
Acceptance, Enjoyment and Enthusiasm.
Acceptance: when there is an action that you must perform and there is really no enjoyment or fun to be gained, you can perform this
function in a conscious state of acceptance. You accept what you are doing without reservations, anger resentfulness or regret.
You become present in the task at hand thus taking responsibility for doing the best that you can.
Enjoyment: When you focus on the joy of the present moment in where you are and not some future or past experience you are
opening up the opportunity to truly experience joy. All to often we may be doing a task that we normally enjoy but because are minds
are either in a future or past event, we overlook the fun in the doing.
Enthusiasm: This is when you have a deep enjoyment for what you are doing along with an added dimension of having a goal or a
vision to work toward.this is when you appear to be multi-tasking, almost like you in a stressed or hurried state, but actually time
seems to be distorted as you are focused on the task at hand with little or no effort. Fun enters the equation. The task becomes easy
I enter that state at times when I am writing these blogs or while writing my book especially with good music playing which inspires
me.
