Today, I decided to "punt"
Using football terminology, today I decided to "punt".
First off let me explain that I realize that with all that is written and all that will be written, I am under no delusions that these blogs will
be read by many. They are therefore no more than on ongoing journal for easy access by myself for future reference.
That said, I will explain today's "punt situation". It began with this mornings walk/run with our three dogs Skyler( Aussie Shepherd),
Charlie (Chihuahua /Terrier mix) and Toby (Yellow Lab pup 11 weeks).
As we began our journey at our usual spot by the garbage dump on Fiesta Island, I discovered one of those inexpensive rubber
footballs. It looked whole but it in fact in was more holey than whole. Either way it was perfect as I decided to practice my football
kicking punting skills. It was great and the dogs loved running after my errant projectiles until they became bored.
I continued however during today's abbreviated 1.5 mile course while alternating between left and right footed kicks.
I can't believe my good fortune to have discovered this long lost exercise. Now even in my football playing youth I don't imagine that
I have ever kicked a football more than twice in my life with my left foot. I can tell you that 40 years of inactivity and having a left sided
stroke did nothing to improve my kicking skills. Most of my attempts were pretty pathetic with both legs but I did let a couple fly.
At the end of our journey I threw the ball into the back of the car. I just added a new exercise to my rehab mix.
