90 Seconds to Emotional Freedom and Perception
It is also a lesson on perception.
At the end of my book I list a number of authors that have made a huge impact on me during the past several as I wrote this book. In my blog on my website at www.StrokesSuck.com I have an entry on April 20, 2009 about Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. It is actually a flattering endorsement of her wonderful book “My Stroke of Insight.”
My blog tells however of my initial reaction to her widely popular YouTube video of Dr.Taylor as she explains in graphic about the morning of her stroke and with the epiphany of her emerging right side takeover of her brain.
As she is speaking on stage to a large audience which appears to be her peers in the medical and scientific community, Dr. Taylor, to my amazement appeared to be glorifying her wonderful event (stroke) that she described as a “Feeling of Nirvana” as her left side, cognitive thinking brain was disabled only to be rescued by her creative and spiritual right side of her brain.
Being brutally as honest as I can I was totally disgusted with this lady’s description of her (a) stroke. Of course it was (her) stroke and not (a) stroke, still I felt somewhat violated. My first reaction was ”This lady is obviously a nut case”. Then I was upset that she appeared to be profiting from such a tragic misfortune that affects someone new in North America every 28 seconds. She appeared to be bragging about how she was now 100% healed.
My wounded ego filled jealous and judgmental left mind of my own was reminding me that I was still mostly paralyzed of the left half of my body. I was ruined financially and I had no idea if I would ever be able to function normally as I once knew myself again.
Dr. Taylor would have surely recognized some of my left brained ugly emotions such as rage, jealousy, resentment and anger to name a few. But that’s where I was at that time, unfortunately.
I swore that I would never want to support her by reading her book.
Two years later in April of this year 2009 when I had rediscovered the public library and I was once again to comprehend and keep me attention on what I was reading, I read her book and changed my mind and my perception about her and her book.
Adding to the Jill Taylor story and to the subject of perception, just recently a lovely young lady who is a good friend of my beautiful daughter Katey named Caitlyn noticed the book I am speaking about in a bookstore where she works and bought it for me as a present. How nice and thoughtful of her to do that. So I read it again and just finished it today as a matter of fact.
Speaking about perception and perhaps because of all of the books regarding spirituality and subjects like living in the Now and the Present, I gained a totally new appreciation for her wonderful book.
Towards the end of the book she writes about our limbic system (emotional) programs that can be triggered automatically. It then takes less than ninety seconds for one of these programs to be triggered, surge through our body, and then be completely flushed out of our bloodstream.
Wow, that’s some extremely powerful and helpful information to own. It follows right in line with our Emotional guidance system that I wrote a blog about concerning the works of Esther and Jerry Hicks, “Ask and it is Given”. There is more about them later in this book but I don’t want to jump the gun.
