Would you give a screwdriver to a Toddler?
Now why in the hell would I ask a stupid question like that? Alright, let me rephrase it?
Would you give a toddler learning a sharp object or a hammer? The purpose of course would be to encourage them to stick
themselves or to hit themselves every time that they fall or make a mistake.
Chances are that if you did, you would go to jail and rightfully have your child taken away.
Then I wonder why is okay to beat ourselves up when we make a mistake or fall in life?
I know what I am talking about because I used to beat myself up all the time, especially at night. Lying in bed at night I would allow my
shortcomings and minor and even some not so minor failures to enter my fertile fragile little brain.
Like Doctor Phil is fond of saying"How has that worked out for you".
Well for me I can't say for absolute certainty, but did I had an artery blow up in my brain causing massive bleeding and my
subsequent stroke. It has been just over three years and I am still dealing with the effects of the stroke.
All things being equal, I would highly recommend that you don't have one of these.
Then why beat yourself up at all? You don't have too. There is a whole world of people out there who will take great joy in doing
that for you. Don't be one of them. Don't be a naysayer to yourself.
Forgive yourself your trespasses, God does.
Be your best friend. Be on your side. Be your ally.
Surround yourself with those who will only bring joy into your life. If they don't, then show them how by sharing it with them.
But start with yourself.
