Mycle Brandy

Mycle Brandy is my friend. I met Mycle shortly after I put our Strokes Suck  group on Facebook .

I met Mycle on Facebook in late January on 2010 as he was getting ready to begin his solo walk across America,

Mycle was about to begin an unbelievable journey  for the American Heart /Stroke Assoc  while raising awareness

of how exercise can overcome the effects of stroke and heart disease.

You see this cause is very dear to Mycle as he himself is a four time stroke survivor.

I remember being in awe of his intended goal and I told him that he will become a folk hero and even quite famous.

Mycle laughed at the absurdity of my statement. I then convinced him to begin a fan page (now known as Like page) which he did.

At that time I mentioned that he will most likely get 3,000 members. He told me he would be happy with 30.

Well Mycle began his Facebook page  and today he will be more than half way to 3000 as he exceeds  member number 1,500.

Yesterday by mining our friends list, Denise Burkill  and I were able to generate over 100 new members for him in a few short hours.

More importantly our own friends and members of Strokes Suck , our Strokes Suck Facebook  and our other groups below

have all begun to request that their friends join as well. Today he has close to 300 new members in two days.

To date Mycle has walked over 2,200 miles with approx. 800 more to go to reach his destination of Washington D.C. in October

of this year( 2010). All told his journey will take him 3,000 miles in 8 months.

Since he began on February 14, Valentines Day, and also his birthday our group at Strokes Suck has been offering him

support mainly through encouragement but also through the generosity of some wonderful members of our groups.

Each Thursday at 12 PM PDT we host the Mycle Brandy show in our chat room.  All are invited and we tend to have a blast.

During the first six months of his trip, besides offering moral support, our group has focused mainly on trying to find a sponsor

to provide a support vehicle like an RV to ride along with Mycle. This would have been a great aid to provide an affordable place

to sleep as well as a way to carry his belongings. Well we never did find someone who wanted to capitalize on his growing

popularity and media coverage so Mycle is currently carrying his belongings weighing 90 lbs. on his back.

All of his expenses including hotels and meals come from Mycle and his wife Louise. Plus the generosity of some fantastic

people that Mycle meets on his trip. In between doing TV, radio and newspaper interviews in each town he passes through, Mycle

never misses an opportunity to visit a hospital or rehab center or anywhere else he can offer a word of encouragement.

It is still possible some donor or savvy business will see the amazing marketing value of having their name along side Mycle's as he

crosses into Washington on October 10th  however our focus now has shifted to asking his supporters for a small donation to help

him reach his goal of 10,000 dollars. Donations of 25.00 or more can be made on the AHA site and our tax deductible.

Smaller donations can be made on Mycle's PayPal acct located under his profile picture on Facebook.

All of Mycle's links can be conveniently found on the front page of Stroke Suck's website, http://StrokesSuck.com/mycle.
